In The Navy...Blue That Is!

Navy blue is such a beautiful color. It's so rich and dramatic and not used as often as it should be. It's a great color on walls or with accent pieces in a room. Here are some inspiring navy blue rooms.

I love this little navy blue dresser. And the blue drapes! Lovely.

LOVE the navy sofa and the chevron rug! The whole room is fantastic!

Our Annie Chair is so elegant in navy blue!

Such a pretty navy blue and white hallway.

I love the idea of using prints or paint on the inside back part of a shelf and the navy here looks fabulous!

True Blood: The New Compton House

I love True Blood (every Sunday night on HBO). I love Bill Compton (played by Stephen Moyer who is also married to Anna Paquin, who plays Sookie on the show). And I LOVE the remodeled Compton house (set) on True Blood! In seasons 1-3, the Compton house was severely run down and looked ready to be torn down but season 4 brings us the new, fabulously chic Compton house.

The foyer. The chandelier is the thing that inspired me to blog about this new set. I LOVE, LOVE it!!
(chandelier is from H.D. Buttercup, metal sphere surrounding chandelier is from Mortise & Tenon, hall table from Craig Olsen and wall sconces from LAMF)

I like the neutral colors in the living room with the sofas facing each other. Love the stripes on the curtains and the lamps are beautiful.
(Sofas are from Cisco Brothers, coffee table is from H.D. Buttercup and the lamps are from Mortise & Tenon)

The office is darker with beautiful wallpaper, faux crocodile chairs and another amazing chandelier.
(Desk is from Eric Brand Furniture, faux croc chairs from 22 Bond St., chandelier from LAMF and the custom silk drum shade around the chandelier (LOVE that look) is from H.D. Buttercup)

I do love the wallpaper and the colors in the office. Don't even get me started on the gorgeous Alexander Skarsgard and Stephen Moyer!!

How To Print DIY Patterned Fabric | Apartment Therapy Chicago

How do you solve the dilemma of finding patterned curtains that will match your existing paint colors?  Easy.  Use the left over paint to stencil your own patterned drapes.

I saw this DIY project over at Apartment Therapy, and I thought it was a creatively, awesome idea.  This budget friendly technique gives you unlimited possibilities in helping to tie in your drapery with the rest of your home decor.  All you need is some canvas fabric, paint, and just the right stencil pattern.

Once you are done painting your walls, just use the left over paint to do your drapes!

With any DIY project, be prepared to put in some good ole fashion elbow grease.

By no means is this going to be easy.  But the payoff can be immensely rewarding.

Voila!  You won't have to worry about whether your drapery is going to match your wall colors.

Tug of War: Which living space do you like best?

Ready for another round of tug of war? We have set up two great living rooms against each other. There's Earthy Modern which contains the Cynthia sofa that is cute and small, great for apartment living. This room encompasses earth tones that set an easygoing mood. The mid-century modern style combined with the rustic elements all come together well because of the details in the room. Now, the Industrial Countryside Chic living area has a family feel. With the over-sized Andre slipcover sectional and it's down blend cushions, thoughts of comfort and good entertainment come to mind. This room also has incorporated rustic elements, but it makes this room feel country the way it's styled. Another difficult decision to go over, although not without rewards. Just Click here and you will be directed to our Facebook page. This is where you will leave a comment on your favorite and you can enter to win a $200 gift card to High Fashion Home. Hurry, this could be your reward!

Colors Of The Rainbow

There are so many different ways to use colors to brighten up a room. It is amazing how using different hues can be inventive and create something very appealing to the eye. No matter what shade you may choose to utilize, it will become a characteristic that suits your style.

Color Spectrum's contain all different kinds of hues that you can take advantage of. Here's my rainbow of rooms with colors that will inspire you.

Red is usually thought to be a romantic color. Using it in a bedroom is the perfect place for you and your significant other.

The pink chairs are the perfect touch for this space.

I never thought you could use so much yellow in a room and still have it be sophisticated.

Green adds life to a room. This one is for all nature lovers.

Blue is for glamor and in this space it does just that.

Purple is for royalty at its finest.

The use of brown in this space is very neutral and inviting.

White can bring out any color. Although, in this living room it sits quietly for those to look at, but not touch.

Can I get a cup of tea with that gray sofa, please?

Need a spa day. Relax in black and white.

Check out these hues from HFH website.

Lovely Home in Charlotte

I saw this house while checking out Southern Living. The house is so classic and beautiful on the outside and it just gets better once you walk through the door. I really enjoy the different prints and colors used throughout the house. Love it.

I have always loved houses that look like this one.

The family room. I love this room so much! Every piece of furniture is a different print but they all work so well together. That mirror? Fuhgettaboutit! : ) And there is plenty of seating so everyone can hang out together.

Now, green is my favorite color so I love the green walls and other little touches of green in this kitchen. Even if it weren't green I would still love it. I think every kitchen needs to have an island. I like the big window and the mix of glass door and solid door cabinets.

I LOVE that the stove is set in an alcove! I'm not sure why other than I think it looks neat.

The breakfast area is great! Yes, I love the lime green chairs but I also think the bench seating along the wall is very smart and then the storage space under that seating is brilliant!

The dining room looks great! I absolutely LOVE the chandelier!!

Daughter's bedroom. Of course, more green (love it) and I like the little reading corner complete with tent. The wallpaper is fun too and livens up the whole room.

This is the son's room. Love the bright colored bedding in the same room as the black and white curtains!

This is the "office". Truly, it's my kind of office. Very organized and uncluttered. Nice.

The parent's bedroom is much more neutral and simple but still very great looking.

Love, love this bathroom! It's got so much great light coming in. I bet a bath in that tub is so relaxing!

Amazing Manhattan Apartment!

This very colorful, very wonderful home belongs to actor, Anthony Edwards and his wife, cosmetics queen, Jeanine Lobell. Jeanine Lobell was the mastermind behind Stila cosmetics (she sold the company and is now the Creative Director for Kevyn Aucoin Beauty); and you may remember Anthony Edwards as Goose from Top Gun or Dr.Greene from ER. Their home has lots of eye-popping color and wallpapers yet it also has a relaxed, comfy look to it. I love, love it!

Jeanine collaborated with Rafael de Cardenas to decorate the apartment. The sectional sofa (love!) and cocktail table are by Cardenas. The sleigh chairs are by High Style Deco. The curtains are made from a Starkde Gournay. fabric and the framed wallpaper panel is by

Flowers artwork is by Jean-Francois Debongnie. I adore the chairs and the Designers Guild fabric they are upholstered in. The vases on the table are by Robert Kuo.

I had seen the wallpaper and the rug separately, I don't think I would have put them together but they do work! The table, cabinet and mirror all came from Sweden.

This wall color is amazing!! (sorry, I don't know the exact brand and color) A simple 1960's Brazilian credenza, some well placed pictures and great lamps make the space complete.

I can't tell you how happy this Bright Lime (by Benjamin Moore) kitchen makes me!! The kitchen already has great light, thanks to the windows and this color just kicks it up a notch.

Jeanine and Anthony in the breakfast room with one of their daughters. More Bright Lime paint and fun wallpaper!! The huge table is perfect!

Now, green is my favorite color and I have always loved the idea of a design that starts near the baseboard and stops mid-wall so this is a win, win! (wallpaper is by Sum-Design)

Lots of the pieces in the office came from Visiona in Miami. Some of the artwork on the wall is by Anthony's grandfather, Kem Weber (who also designed the lounge chair).

The bedroom is painted in Grappa by Benjamin Moore. The bed was designed by Cardenas and covered in a Stark fabric.
