Row houses are not the most common form of architecture for today's residential structures (at least, not here in Houston) but are they making a comeback? Matthew and Tina Ford of Shade House teamed up with Holden Shannon to design and build Row on 25th in the Houston Heights. The homes are of simple design and can be outfitted in 2 different styles - laminated kitchen cabinets and ash flooring OR stainless steel kitchen cabinetry and reclaimed wood floors. The interiors are spacious, open and modern and each home has a small patio space for enjoying the Houston weather. What do you think??

Plus Design!!
I LOVE talking up Houston's local businesses and the locals that I am going to talk about now are the peeps over at Plus Design. Plus Design is headed by designer and founder, Marty Joyce. Marty has over a decade of experience in creating custom furniture pieces and architectural fixtures for homes and businesses. You can see some of Plus Design's handiwork at local Houston businesses such as Settlement Goods and Paulie's. Here, here! Take a look. Well done, Marty! : )

New Guys In Town
Need a new place to hang out this fall? Prohibition is the new hot spot that has just opened up in the Galleria area. They, of course, stopped by High Fashion Home to furnish their interior for this upscale location. Don't worry about the alcohol, they have plenty. Specializing in 1920's style cocktails with a modern twist is a great way to change up your nights. Plus, you get to relax on cool furniture, who wouldn't want that!

The entrance is nice and simple. Once you see the inside you won't want to pass it up.
The Dome Chairs and the Crank Table.
Cozy bar that you and your friends can mingle at.

Pillows, Part 2! Eco-Friendly and Fair Trade Options
Last week I did a post on pillows and got a suggestion, from Decorative Pillows, to showcase some eco-friendly and fair trade pillow options. They asked and shall receive.
For those of you not familiar with the term "fair trade" here is what it means- "Fair Trade is an organized social movement and market based approach that aims to help producers in developing countries obtain better trading conditions and promote sustainability." (Thank you for that explanation Wikipedia) And I'm pretty sure most of us out there know what eco-friendly means so I will just get on with showing the pillows! Enjoy! : )

These first 2 pillows are by Modernality via Etsy. The pillows are made of felt that is made from recycled plastic bottles!
These next pillows come from a company called Gianna. Gianna offers lots of eco-friendly AND fair trade items but since we are talking pillows; here are some options from Gianna.
Organic Cotton Bubbles Pillow
Organic Cotton Snowflake Neckroll Pillow
The next few pillows come from Humble Creations. They use organic cotton and non-toxic water based inks on their items.

And last but not least, Ten Thousand Villages. We actually have a Ten Thousand Villages (a fair trade retailer) here in Houston. They sell items by artisans from all over the world.
