Mr Bigglesworthy and Webbs present the Interior Modern Collection

It's a little unnatural to be this excited about furniture, but know me before you judge me. A collection of some of the world's rarest and most famous furniture is being auctioned off by Mr Bigglesworthy and Webbs this month. The cast is insanely good, just take a look at some of these images below.

The auction has come about through the collaboration of two champions of New Zealand design - the 'young' Mr Bigglesworthy (as collectors and curators) and the established, iconic Webbs (auction house).

Included in the Interiors Modern Design collection are many New Zealand design pieces and collector's items, sitting alongside international classics from the world's top mid-century designers. Makes me proud.

There's a preview evening happening on Thursday 22nd March, from 5.30-8 at Webbs - and Dan and Emma (super cool and lovely couple and the owners of Mr Bigglesworthy) will be there to show you the pieces and answer any questions. The collection is on show to the public at Webbs every weekday until the auction - so you can see these beauties in the flesh. Please resist the urge to smell the leather. The auction is happening at 6pm on Thursday 29th March.

Grant Featherston was an Australian designer. This R160 Rocking Chair is one of only about 20 which are known about in the world.

These Ernst Plishke chairs are my favourite. Ernst was a New Zealand architect, writer and furniture designer.

Emma from Mr Bigglesworthy had a chat to me: " Dan and I were incredibly humbled when we got a call from Neil Campbell from Webb's near the end of last year, inviting us to collaborate with them. Webb's is a longstanding New Zealand bastion of design and art, and MrBigglesworthy.co.nz had only been in existence for a few months at the time. It's a huge honour for us to work with a team of such knowledgable and keen collectors. Recently Webb's has extended it's network to include boutique brands like Workshop and Crane Brothers, so we were blown away by a similar offer to work with them.   This auction, which we're really proud of, has been put together without the luxury of time but it includes some world class design objects. We're looking forward to seeing our pieces displayed in a beautiful environment like the Webb's auction house surrounded by fine art and antiques. The plan is to put together a couple of auctions a year with Webb's as well as our own exhibitions, just to make sure we aren't resting our feet for too long! It's the start of a very exciting journey for us no doubt".
