Guest Post: Sunshine Yellow

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9

I so enjoy the Style posts Jess Whiting puts together over at Foxes that I asked her to do a little Guest Post here for us. Aaaaaand Go!

Yellow is such an awesome colour, and so many of us are put off wearing it as it can often make you look washed out, sick or just blah but if you choose the right shade for your skin tone there is no reason why you can't add a touch of sunshine to your wardrobe.

Olive to Dark skin: great for marigold shades or zesty lemon (which is not good for pale skin as it often reflects and can make you look jaundice!)
Mid tone skin: perfect for a buttery buttercup yellow or a marigold shade
Pale and Rose based skin: Canary yellow — actually this shade is suited to almost everyone!

Yellow looks fantastic with black, white, soft greys (for light yellows) or charcoal (for marigold shades) or my current favourites, chartreuse blue or magenta (3). If you do have a large block of yellow, team it with silver jewellery as gold can often look too brassy. Of course you don't have to wear it as a block colour with your clothing, adding a touch of your favourite shade with shoes, bags or jewellery, I absolutely love this handmade leather envelope clutch (6) from German based designer Alex Bender. Or this floral blazer (9) from Insight, which is absolutely freakin' gorgeous and I'm going to trot off right now and buy it...
