Semi Permanent 2012 - I hope you're coming...

Semi Permanent is back with another line-up of creative heavy-hitters. It's happening May 18 and 19 (yeah, that's real soon!) at the Aotea Centre. And this year, holy shit lady, there are 16 seriously good speakers,  and the creative disciplines they're covering is wider than ever. Here's the rundown...

Ron English
The POPaganda creator is one of today's most prolific and recognised artists.

Industrial Light & Magic
Special Effects studio from San Francisco - and part of the Lucasfilm group of companies. Think every major blockbuster from the 1980's to today. WICKED.

Gmunk
Or, if you prefer, Bradley G. Munkovitz. Motion Graphics master - check out his website for a little taste test. This'll be good.

Wallpaper Magazine
No introduction needed.

Special Group (NZ)
In just 3 years since they set up shop, this New Zealand advertising house have won at Cannes (Grand Prix), Axis, Webbys, Best, Effies, D&AD... and been congratulated in Parliament.

Three Drunk Monkeys
Bloody clever ad men from Sydney, Australia. I went off to their website to find an image for you, then got distracted for about an hour by somuchgoodworksomanybigideas. Can't wait to hear these guys.

Alex Trouchet
Crazy loose typographer. Expect ampersands.

Swifty
For over 20 years, he's been heavily involved in both London's music scene and design community. I have a feeling he's going to talk about the power of personal, independent creative projects... awesome.

SouthSouthWest
Australian graphic design studio with loads of hot, hot work to showoff on the day. Showoffs.

Benja Harney
Makes amazing stuff out of paper for advertising, magazine illustrations, exhibitions...

And that's not even everyone ow! There's more design studios, an industrial designer, documentary photographer, NZ fashion brand Stolen Girlfriends Club and more speakers still to be announced.

And there's a bunch of side events you can get involved in, like a Ron English exhibition at Webbs (starts May 10th) or a digital discussion panel with High Res and Resn. Early-bird tickets are on sale now, and you can buy for one day or both.

The other super exciting thing is that Semi-Permanent have given me a ticket and I am giving it away to one of you!  I just need to think of a good way for you to enter. Like maybe making you do an interpretive dance with the theme 'ink and paper', or a colouring-in competition... Something amazing like that.
