Bringing in the old to spruce up the new!

Using old traditional design styles to add flare to modern, contemporary design!

Looking through the many pictures online today I ran into something I never really thought about: mixing modern contemporary interior design with little touches of old traditional design. To me that would indicate a merging of two styles that are not only far apart in looks, feel, and persona, but styles that are not meant to be joined or aeven mixed in any way. After seeing some of the pictures that follow this brief introduction I no longer feel that way although the interior designer in this case, did an absolute fantastic job at combining the two styles in a way that they do not clash with one another and instead complement each other. He brought out elements from both design styles and I have to admit, the results are spectacular.

Pay close attention the picture below. Notice the small table in the left of the picture, the staircase and some extent the design pattern on the couches, all of which are not modern contemporary but more traditional old school charm,. a style I no longer like, use, or even consider. After seeing these pictures, bringing them bck as touches of a different element of design when using the modern contemporary design style is a fantastic idea, one with great results, and it does add a little flare and uniqueness to the outcome, something we all want when we design any room, household, or outside landscaping area.

The use of wood is excellent and is used through-out this home design. He has an ultra modern kitchen, a very traditional staircase and even living area to some extent, and yet a lot of the interior of the house uses modern contemporary design as the primary design style. Its the constant mix of the two and the way in which he chose to mix these styles that make this design so unique. Neither style seems in the way, over bearing, or out of place. He mixes the two styles in every room of the house and he does so in a way that looks fantastic and make them seem almost like twins. Unbelievable!  The pieces he chose and uses in his design are absolutely amazing and provide a perfect mix and balance between these two previously thought of by me as simply to opposite to mix. I have now changed my mind on this.
