New Zealand's own Spindle Back (sounds like a spider, actually a babe'n chair design)...

This one relates to yesterday's post about new design store Paper Plane... but I reeeeeeeeeeally felt it deserved its own separate post. 

We've (well I've, and maybe you've) spent years oohing at Danish & British spindle back chairs... and now here comes Timothy John, making a NZ spindle back we can be proud of. A future timeless classic (does that make sense?), The Nordic is handturned by a local master craftsman and priced at $690. Available exclusively through Paper Plane.

I love Hay's About a Chair collection - especially the tub chairs, in white or coral. 

Designed by Copenhagen-based Hee Welling, the idea behind the collection was 'conspicuous simplicity'. (PS: If you're in NZ and you want one or three, Corporate Culture are NZ stockists of Hay furniture and homeware.) Also helps that the styling is the balls.

New Zealand design - Pew Chair

The right name can (for me) add so much value to a product. And Pew was given the perfect name.
Not that it needs this kind of favour, it's a perfectly-formed product even without the sweet sobriquet.
A range of chairs designed for a small space, chairs that let you lean smoothly forward or rock backwards in that way we tend to do when we're feeling relaxed and open. Pew, I like yew.
